So cliche I know but after recently witnessing a little spat via Instagram, I have been so stirred. It has compelled me to send out a reminder. Be kind.

And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.

Ephesians 4:32

Why are we so quick to jump the gun sometimes? At the end of the day what good does it do? I am guilty. Lashing out and speaking my mind while in turn only hurting others around me. Silence is golden. If you don’t have anything nice to say, then don’t say anything at all. A couple of good rules to follow but so easy to forget. I absolutely love the book of Proverbs as it deals with this very subject. It’s full of good words that will teach us how to act and how to respond to things that rub us the wrong way.

A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.

Proverbs 15:1

If you’re having a problem being kind, then you’re probably having an attitude problem.

Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up.

I Corinthians 13:4

The Bible tells us how it displeases God to stir up strife and sow discord among the brethren. Why would we choose to do something that God hates?

Maybe you don’t need reminding. Maybe this was merrily for my own good. I just want to share some good, golden nuggets I found about kindness. Read them. Let the convict you. Let them drive you to become better version of yourself. If you have to, read them twice. Let’s make this world a better place one kind act at a time.

Luke 6:35 tells us what is means to be kind:

But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the highest: for He is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.

What a perfect explanation of kindness. Love those that show no love. Don’t expect anything in return. Your reward will be knowing you done the right thing. Do you lack peace? Try showing kindness.

Always be kind. If you see someone falling behind, walk beside them. If someone is being ignored, find a way to include them. If someone has been knocked down, lift them up. Always remind people of their worth. Be who you needed when you were going through hard times. Just one small act of kindness could mean the world to someone.

It may be as simple as a compliment or holding a door open for someone. It could be sending a text to a friend just because your thinking about them, sending a good old-fashion card in the mail to let someone know you care, donating food to a local food bank, giving someone a little gift to let them know they are special to you, etc. The opportunities are literally endless.
