There are times in life when we literally think we cannot take anymore. We’ve all been there. Reality comes and smacks us up side the face and we have to swallow hard because we realize that we are weak.
We were not created as weak human beings. Weakness was only meant to be temporary. God intended for us to live victoriously. The strength is not found in ourselves but it’s found in Him. That’s how He wanted it to be. He wants us to show dependency on Him. That’s where all strength lies. That’s how He gets the most glory. When we have no more because we are empty that’s when He wants to fill us. When we don’t have the power to do it on our own, that’s when He steps on the scene. We may can get the job done on our own but the best results will only come when He has a hand in it.
Life has a way of sucker punching us right in the gut at times and we literally feel too weak to walk much less stand. Those days when it’s all you can do to put one foot in front of the other and wear that smile that says your okay but on the inside your falling apart. It’s in those times when God can do His best work if we will allow Him to. There’s a free, limitless power source of strength that has been made available to us through Jesus Christ.
God likes to work when nothing else will. He likes to have situations that have been deemed hopeless and useless. He won’t take them from us though. He simply stands near and waits for us to hand them over. He specializes in the impossible. It’s in those weakest moments in our lives when He can provide the greatest strength. He can take the imperfect and make it perfect.
I love what Paul says in II Corinthians 12:9-10:
And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.
Jesus tells us that His strength is made perfect in weakness. Our times of weakness become His greatest works. I know it’s easy to become discouraged when things get hard but that’s when we are most susceptible to Christ’s perfecting work.
For something to be perfected, it must have been imperfect at one time.
Paul tells us in verse 10 to take pleasure in the hard knocks of life because that is when we will be made strong. If you’re feeling weak, take courage! You’re a perfect candidate to receive more from Christ.
We go through things to be tested. It either makes us or breaks us. What doesn’t kill us makes us stronger. God knows that we can only handle so much but He also knows that when we reach that point, He’s got an endless supply that we can have access to. It’s up to us to run to the supply closet — prayer closet.
Chin up, my friend. When you are feeling weak, that is when He is making you strong.
Keep the Faith. Don’t give up. Trust Him. Believe in His Word. God does care!
