Okay, let’s be “real”. Not everyone of us feel like we have the so-called “perfect” home. I’m meaning that not all of us have actual laundry rooms/mud rooms or we may only have a two bedroom/one bath house. A small front porch or old time windows, whatever you have been Blessed with in this season, we should make the best of what we have, right? That’s practicing good stewardship I would think.
My husband and I have always rented the homes that we have lived in. Some have been very large and loaded and others have been very small and quaint homes. Right now we live in a smaller home that I have found myself referring to as a little cottage home. It is the second smallest home that we have lived in so far. God has always blessed us with good homes and I try my best to make the best of every situation. In this cottage home I do not have a laundry room. Instead, I have a small laundry nook right off my kitchen.

I truly believe we should make the best of every situation. One of my favorite scriptures is this:
Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.
Philippians 4:11
No, it’s not ideal to have your laundry room in your kitchen but in my case, since the last home I lived had the laundry room outside of the house under a carport and in a storage room, I am very appreciative to have it in the house! Lol! So, I’m here to remind you that the not so ideal situations that we really can’t help or have no control over don’t have to be that bad. Yes, I’m sure all would love to have an actual laundry room and a designated place to hide it all away or decorate or whatever your idea of “perfect” would be, but sometimes we have to make the best of what we have and be thankful. It’s okay that your laundry room is just a nook in your kitchen or hallway or under your carport if need be. Make the best of it! Find contentment. Make it fun.
Here’s how I’ve made the best with what I have been blessed with; Yes, BLESSED with.

Since laundry consumes about 208 hours of our time every year, why not make the area where it all takes place a little more enjoyable? Since I have done this to my laundry nook, I find that it actually brings me joy when I spend so much of my time here. It created such a better atmosphere in this small area and helps the chore not seem so sapping. No, it’s not fancy and yes, I have plans and goals but for now, this is what I have and I’m making the best of it. So until it changes, here it is y’all.

The shelf was already installed when we moved in. Eventually, I would love to paint it and add some trim or crown, get a huge “Laundry” sign, and maybe some matching storage baskets but until then, I’m making it Home. The polka-dot storage container houses other cleaning supplies and the wire basket holds what won’t fit in the container. My iron is used daily so it has its easily accessible place. I keep my lint in a jar. Sounds crazy I know but this stuff works great for fire starters and as much as we do camp fires/fire pits it has been super helpful! Brayleigh’s dog treats are stored up here randomly because I really have no other place for them and it actually keeps them easily accessible since this is right off the kitchen. The little white house is a little battery powered night light from Target that adds a fun, “homie” touch. Succulents are my favorite so those are scattered throughout my whole house just for fun and the miniature milk glass pitcher was my grandmothers. I placed it up there to hide the lamp cord a little better. Lol! That’s how you make it work y’all! Just do you! Do what makes you smile and relax. You deserve that.
Now, one might ask, “How and what do you do with your laundry baskets when you have dinner guests since it’s all right there in the kitchen?” The answer is this folks:

I’m telling ya, I don’t let having a laundry nook in my kitchen keep me from enjoying life. I. Make. It. Work.
If you can glean anything from this post glean this: Life is too short to wish it was different. Don’t waste your time on things that you have no control over at the moment. Life was meant to be enjoyed. Find joy in this journey we have been given. Don’t let yourself be robbed of the enjoyment of life. I promise you, there’s more people out there than can actually relate to you and what you’re feeling and going through more than what you think. Just because most social media posts make homes seem so perfect, we get this lump in our throats that make us feel like we are the lower. No ma’am; no sir. Your home is your castle. Your refuge. Your safety zone. Don’t let SM determine whether or not you can be happy with what you have been blessed with.
Be thankful! Make the best of it! Even if it is a little laundry nook.

Love it! Such a good blog post! So proud of you! You know just how to make life perfect! 😊 I love the idea of putting the laundry baskets in the dryer!! ❤❤😊😘
