Who are you following?

It’s such a big deal these days with social media. Who you follow and how many followers you have. Some people want it all to be kept to personal relationships and others are just out looking for numbers. For me, more would be cool BUT I like having personal relationships better. They seem to matter more and care more about what you have to share.

Jesus was looking for followers. He even offered a really cool incentive for His followers.

Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

John 8:12

He said that if we follow Him, we won’t be in darkness but have the light of life. A promise of a lighted way. Christ is the light of the world. He lights the path for us to take in life. He walks with us. What a personal relationship with Him! I want that personalization. What better incentive could you have in life than a personal Guide to get you through? That’s who I would want to follow.

He takes care of His followers. He is a personal, loving Savior. What better Influencer to pattern your life after? I pray that I can be Christ like and influence someone to Him because of His influence on me. I want to be a light for Him because He is the Light of my life.

All through out the New Testament there are so many examples of how Christ took care of those that followed after Him. Even after His death and ascension, He Still was taking care of those who followed after Him and still does to this day. He truly does care for his followers.

Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

I Peter 5:7

All this has been on my mind lately as I wonder what kind of influencer I am. I want to be the right kind. Genuine. I have a little boy looking up to me now. I sure enough don’t wanna mess up! I want to make sure that my Christ Light is shining ever so brightly! In town, at Wal-Mart, at the restaurant, in my own home, church, etc. wherever I may be.

What kind of light are you shining?
