The storm had begun. Jesus had constrained His disciples to get into the ship and go. Now, here they are, in the middle of the sea, and the waves are crashing around and the winds are ridiculously powerful! Yet here comes Jesus, walking on the water, and would have passed them by, except Peter. Full of zeal, Peter steps out in faith to get to Jesus. Then, zeal turns to fear and Peter began to sink. He saw the storm instead of the storm calmer! In love Jesus stretched forth His hand and caught Peter before the storm had its way with him. Matthew 14:32 says this next:
And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased.
My favorite part about this story is not the fact that the storm ceased but the fact that it ceased after Jesus and Peter were back in the ship. You see there was a span of time that Jesus and Peter walked on the water together while the storm was still raging! That “in between” the storm and the calm.
The other day while gleaning from this Bible story I felt the Lord quicken my heart, “I am in the in between.” That part when the storm is still raging and it hasn’t stopped yet. That part when life is having all the problems and you don’t see a light at the end of the tunnel yet. That part when everything is falling apart and it hasn’t all smoothed out yet. God is still there! The in between the heart break and healing. That “through” part. He will take you through! That’s what He done for Peter. He personally took him through that storm before it ceased.

If God brings you to it, He’ll take you through it.
He is in the in between.
