Dada

Father’s Day 2022.

It’s not just another Father’s Day anymore! It’s a day that Dustin can celebrate now because of an answered prayer! Watching him be Dada is my new favorite thing.

Dada has easily became Kelton’s best pal and I’m totally okay with it! Dustin is not as vocal about things as I am. Even though he didn’t say much, I knew the times when he was trying to be strong for me, he was struggling too. Seeing him now getting to live this reality that we prayed for for so long is well worth Dada being Kelton’s favorite.

Just when I thought I loved him, I got to watch him become Dada and now I love him even more. Watching him and the way he looks at Kelton with a sparkle in his eye; my heart skips beats.

Dada is the one that buys him all the cool toys and gives him his first snow cone and donuts. Dada loves to show him all the new things and fun ways to enjoy life. I’m sure that plays a big part in why Kelton is so fond of him.

He loves getting to spend all day with Dada when we get to go to work with him. It breaks his heart when he has to stay home and Dada leaves. Those morning feelings are so precious and it’s times like that, that we thank God for. They make Dada’s heart swell and he can’t wait till he gets off work to see his little pal.

One of my most favorite places to watch Dustin be Dada is at church. When he backs the preacher and Kelton is so concerned with why he’s being so loud or when he is praising the Lord and Kelton is so alert to it. Dada always takes Kelton when it’s time to go pray. He gets to be right in the middle of Dada’s prayer so he will know what to do when he gets older. Watching the drums is Kelton’s favorite thing at church currently and Dada always has a way of getting up closer to the action. Kelton loves it! I couldn’t have prayed for a better Dada for Kelton to look up to. I know he’s following after God and Kelton is following after him. As long as Dada is doing that, then Kelton will be heading in the right direction.

Happy Father’s Day to my favorite Dada! I love you. I am proud of you. I appreciate how you are raising our son. Even though he don’t say Momma much anymore, my heart longed for you to be called Dada far too long for me to be upset about it.

To God be the Glory!

I asked Dustin at dinner if Father’s Days ever bothered him in years past. He said yes.

Infertility can be hard on men too. I think we always just tend to think of the women who suffer and go through this difficulty but they have significant others who too feel the same kind of pains.

If you have not yet got to start your family, you are in our prayers during this day. Happy Father’s Day to those who are Father’s at heart and the best Uncle’s around. We see you and understand your pain.
